THE MUCH AWAITED SEASON THREE
Thursday, January 25th, 2007SEASON THREE
"It’s been quite a while…" The lyric from the song rings in my ears as i begin to write my first entry for Season Three. God, I can’t believe how much I missed doing this! With everything that happened in the last two months, it’s inevitable that something has to be written, or posted on this blog.
To make this comeback a dramatic one. let me just share that I recently resigned from work as Subject Matter Expert at VXI. I was promoted last October, if you still recall. In December, we were handpicked as the second batch to undergo TSC training. I was already eyeing my second promotion, either as a Process/Systems Trainer or Team Supervisor. My prospects looked good. I was getting a big salary already, and a second promotion at TSC will ensure bigger incentives plus another increase. So, why the heck did i quit my job, you might ask.
I resigned from the call center because I got accepted at GMA 7. I decided to grab the break and pursue my passion and my long time dream. Starting on Monday, I will be undergoing a rigorous 36 hours training under Don Michael Perez, writer of Darna, Mulawin and Asian Treasures. After that will be a 1 month follow through session, and then the transition to the Concept Development Group that serves as the brain of all the Kapuso Telebabad shows. The pay is a measly one third of what i was getting from VXI, but the chance to do what makes me really happy was too tempting to pass. I have this one shot opportunity and i am determined to succeed. Sobrang tagal ang hinintay ko for a break like this, kaya hindi ko sasayangin. Malaking sakripisyo yung mag-resign sa trabaho, but it was a price i was willing to pay to finally make it as a writer. All roads led to GMA. Sabi nga sa song ni whitney houston "it’s time for me to do it on my own."
I’m excited and scared at the same time. As a graduate of computer engineering (at hindi Mass Comm), wala akong formal training or education sa pagsusulat. I only learned from experience, from all those plays i wrote for Magwayen. When I won sa Luna Awards (for their screenplay writing contest), i was able to affirm my talent. But writing for TV is a different playing field. Neophyte talaga ako. Frankly, i don’t know what to expect.
What awaits me sa GMA? Paano magsu-survive ang isang hardcore Kapamilya na tulad ko sa bakuran ng mga Kapuso? Is it possible for a man to serve two masters? In the end, sino ang magmamay-ari ng puso ko?
ABANGAN… (I can’t resist the urge to say this, hahaha)
